Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). In 2022, ACL will be focusing on aging in place – how older adults can plan to stay in their homes and live independently in their communities for as long as possible. The 2022 theme is Age My Way, an opportunity for everyone to explore the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities.

Seniors are also encouraged to apply for the Senior Citizen Discount to receive a 30 percent savings on water and sewer bills. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

• 65 years of age or older. You must provide a birth certificate, driver’s license or other valid Georgia ID.
• A City of Atlanta water and sewer customer. If you do not receive your water and sewer bill directly from the City of Atlanta, you cannot receive the senior citizen discount.
• A maximum household income of $25,000 or less. You must provide proof of income, such as previous or current year Federal Week: May 15-21, 2022 Income Tax Form 1040 or 1099.
