Keep Your Pipes FOG-Free
You’ve probably heard the saying, “water and oil don’t mix.” That’s especially true when it comes to FOG—Fats, Oils, and Grease.
FOG might seem harmless when poured down the drain, but it can:
- Damage your kitchen and bathroom pipes
- Clog sewers and cause costly backups
- Overflow into streets, streams, and rivers—polluting our environment
How FOG Clogs Pipes
When hot, FOG looks like any other liquid. But as it cools, it hardens inside pipes, building up over time until it blocks your sewer line.
How to Dispose of FOG Properly
Help prevent clogs and protect our waterways by following these simple steps:
- Never pour FOG down the drain or garbage disposal.
- Collect cooking oils in a container or can for disposal.
- Scrape leftover food into the trash.
- Wipe pots and pans with a paper towel before washing.
Why It Matters
A blocked sewer line at your home or business could cost hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars to fix. More importantly, reducing FOG protects our rivers, streams, and community health.
