UPDATE
LANE CLOSURES: 10th ST. NE & PIEDMONT AVE. NE FOR EMERGENCY SEWER REPAIRS
The Project Is Expected To Be Completed Ahead Of Pride Weekend
Location: 10th Street NE from Peachtree Street NE to just east of Myrtle Street NE, and Piedmont Avenue from 10th Street NE to 961 Piedmont Avenue.
Date & Duration: Full lane closures began Wednesday, September 17, and will remain in place around the clock until work is finished. The project is on track to be completed before Pride Weekend (October 11 – 12), ensuring the roadway is fully open for the event. Crews are working Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., to meet this deadline, weather permitting.
Details: As part of a regulatory consent order, emergency sewer repairs are underway. Crews are removing and replacing existing sewer mains to fix defects and improve the overall capacity of the sewer system.
Traffic Control: The Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is performing sewer mainline rehabilitation requiring a 24-hour eastbound lane closure.
Traffic control measures and signage are in place to safely guide motorists around the work zone. Residents and businesses within the work area will maintain access to homes, mail and package delivery, emergency services, and trash collection.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted detours, and avoid the area when possible. Alternative parking will be required for vehicles typically parked on the street.
Detours:
- Westbound travel lanes on 10th Street NE heading toward Peachtree Street NE will be reduced to one lane.
- One eastbound travel lane on 10th Street NE will remain open to traffic with the exception of one block between Juniper Street NEand Piedmont Avenue NE.
- Eastbound traffic on10th Street NE will be detoured at Juniper Street NE.
