Location: Northbound traffic will be closed at the intersection of Piedmont Ave. NE and 225 10th St NE.

Date & Duration: Full lane closures will begin Wednesday, October 1, 2005, and will remain in place around the clock. The intersection is tentatively scheduled to reopen by Saturday morning, October 6, 2025, weather permitting. 

Details: As part of a regulatory consent order, emergency sewer repairs are underway. Crews are removing and replacing existing sewer mains to fix defects and improve the overall capacity of the sewer system. Crews recently discovered unexpected underground issues while working on sewer upgrades. 

Traffic Control: The Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is performing sewer mainline rehabilitation requiring a 24-hour northbound lane closure. Traffic control measures and signage are in place to safely guide motorists around the work zone. 

Residents and businesses in and around the work zone will maintain access to homes, mail and package delivery, emergency services, and trash collection using a temporary two-way traffic setup between 8th Street and 10th Street NE. 

Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted detours, and avoid the area when possible. Alternative parking will be required for vehicles typically parked on the street. 

Detours: 

• Motorists traveling North on Piedmont Ave NE take a right onto 8th Street NE. Turn left onto Myrtle Street NE. Turn left onto 10th Street NE, then right onto Piedmont Ave NE. 
• Motorists traveling East on 10th Street NE take a right onto Juniper Street. Travel south to Ponce De Leon and take a left. Then take a left onto Piedmont Ave. Take a right onto 8th Street NE, left onto Myrtle St NE. Then turn right onto 10th Street NE.
