What: The Department of Watershed Management contractors will conduct smoke testing of the sewer system as part of the system evaluation.

Where: Affected streets during the system evaluation include:

• Woodbine Cir. SE
• Montgomery St. SE
• Woodbine Ave. SE between Montgomery St. SE & Anniston Ave. SE
• 1494 Memorial Dr. SE (Memorial Apartments)

When: Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., lasting approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Comments: This work is being done to locate and identify defects in the sewer line that need to be repaired and/or replaced to improve sanitary sewer services.

Smoke testing process: Smoke testing takes a few hours, and forces smoke filled air into the sanitary sewer system. The smoke is non-toxic, odorless, and fills the sewer line and only escapes to the surface if there are any defects in the sanitary sewer system that needs to be repaired.
