NEWS RELEASE

UPDATE AS OF 09-30-2024 (3 p.m.)

BOIL WATER ADVISORY STILL IN EFFECT FORRESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES IN THE CITY OF ATLANTA FROM MARTIN L. KING, JR. DRIVE SOUTH OF I-20, CITY OF FAIRBURN, CITY OF SOUTH FULTON, CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, PALMETTO, & UNION CITY

ATLANTA — On Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) issued a boil water advisory out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Georgia EPD guidance for public advisory. DWM calls for immediate water restriction for critical uses only to allow system pressures to rebuild.

A failure at the Adamsville Pumping Station has caused a widespread water outage for customers in parts of the City of Atlanta from Martin L. King, Jr. Dr., south of I-20, to the City of Fairburn, the City of South Fulton, Chattahoochee Hills, Palmetto, and Union City. As a result, there may be low or no water pressure in the affected area.

The boil water advisory will remain in place until DWM is cleared to lift the advisory following sampling protocols.

If you are a resident in the impacted area and in need of water, please visit the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center, or one of four designated AFRD fire stations until 7 p.m.:

  • Fire Station 36: 2611 Fairburn Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30331
  • Fire Station 17: 1489 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA 30310
  • Fire Station 5: 2825 Campbellton Rd. SW
