Location: The Intersection of 10th Street NW and Hemphill Avenue NW

Date & Duration: Beginning Monday, March 16, 2026, the intersection at 10th Street NW and Hemphill Avenue NW will be closed. The work is expected to last approximately four weeks, weather permitting, and will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Details: As part of the City’s water distribution maintenance program, Crews will perform valve replacement work for its 36-inch valves located in the intersection of 10th Street NW and Hemphill Avenue NW.

Traffic Control: Traffic control measures and signage are in place to safely guide motorists around the work zone. Residents and businesses within the work area will maintain access to homes, mail and package delivery, emergency services, and trash collection.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted detours, and avoid the area when possible. Alternative parking will be required for vehicles typically parked on the street.

Detours:

From Northside Drive:
10th Street NW will be open to local traffic only up to Hemphill Avenue NW.
Detour signage will be posted along Northside Drive directing motorists to 14th Street NW, then right on State Street NW, and left on 10th Street.

From the I-75/I-85 Connector:
10th Street NW will be open to local traffic only between State Street NW and Hemphill Avenue NW.
Detour signage will be posted along 10th Street NW directing motorists to State Street NW, then take a left on 14th Street NW, and another left on Northside Drive NW.

From Hemphill Avenue on Georgia Tech’s Campus:
Hemphill Avenue NW will be open to local traffic only between Ferst Drive NW and 9th St NW.
Detour signage will be posted along Hemphill Avenue directing motorists to 9th Street NW to Center Street NW, then eastbound to 10th Street.
Westbound traffic will be routed onto State Street NW, then to 14th Street, and back to Northside Drive NW.

From Hemphill Avenue from 14th Street NW:
Hemphill Avenue NW will be open to local traffic only between 14TH Street NW and 10th Street NW.
Detour signage will be posted along Hemphill Avenue NW directing motorists to 14th Street NW, then to State Street NW, and down to 10th Street.
