Location: 17 8th St. NE between Piedmont Ave. and Juniper St. NE

Date & Duration: Work will begin on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with a 24-hour road closure in place. The work is expected to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Work will occur Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Details: As part of compliance with a regulatory consent order, emergency sewer repairs will be conducted, existing sewer mains will be removed and replaced to repair defects and increase the sewer system’s capacity.

Traffic Control: The Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will perform sewer mainline rehabilitation requiring a 24-hour eastbound lane closure.

Traffic control measures and signage are in place to safely guide motorists around the work zone. Residents and businesses within the work area will maintain access to homes, mail and package delivery, emergency services, and trash collection.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted detours, and avoid the area when possible. Alternative parking will be required for vehicles typically parked on the street.

Detours:

• Motorists traveling East on 8th St. NE turn right on Juniper Street, turn left on 7th Street, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue, and right on 8th Street NE.
