The Office of Linear Infrastructure Operations oversees all aspects of the drinking water system, including raw water supply, treatment, distribution and water quality compliance and is responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of more than 2,500 miles of drinking water mains and infrastructure, and more than 1,500 miles of sanitary and combined sewers. A main focus of the office will be the rapid delivery of customer service to all constituents and customers of the City of Atlanta.
Water Quality and Compliance
Atlanta’s drinking water has won national awards for its quality, clarity and taste. The Department of Watershed Management must provide well over 750 samples per month to the State of Georgia for analysis of lead and copper, bacteria, turbidity, and 21 other contaminants to assure water quality.
