Keep Leaves out of Storm Drains
Storm drains blocked by fallen leaves can cause extreme flooding on neighborhood streets and sidewalks. Leaves washed into local streams decay, releasing phosphorus into the water. Here is how you can help protect our stormwater infrastructure and streams from fallen leaves this season:
- Don’t blow or sweep fallen leaves into the streets, storm drains or catch basins
- Stormwater pipes and structures around your property should remain clear of dirt, yard debris, trash and leaves
