Bridge Closure on Moores Mill Road Following Heavy Vehicle Strike
ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is responding to an incident on Moores Mill Road after a heavy vehicle struck the bridge, compromising its structural integrity and damaging a water line. The impact caused a portion of the bridge’s supporting structure to collapse into Peachtree Creek.
The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management and the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) are on-site assessing the damage and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Crews are evaluating the extent of the structural damage and water line repairs needed to restore the area to safe operating conditions.
Due to the severity of the damage, the bridge is closed and is anticipated to remain closed until further assessment and completion of necessary repairs.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution in the surrounding area and follow all new traffic patterns, detours, and posted signage while the bridge remains closed. Drivers should plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time to minimize delays and help ensure the safety of motorists and response crews.
