City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management Issues
Boil Water Advisory for Downtown Corridor
ATLANTA – Due to an internal power failure at the Hemphill Electric Pumping Station, the facility experienced a temporary loss of electrical service, resulting in low water pressure in impacted areas. Power has since been restored.
Impacted Areas
As a precaution and in accordance with public health guidance, a boil water advisory has been issued for impacted areas in the downtown corridor. Approximately 50,000 customers are within the impacted area. Residents should refer to the published maps to confirm impacted locations. Please see the Public Alerts Map.
What Residents Should Do
Customers in impacted areas should boil all water used for:
- Drinking
- Cooking
- Brushing teeth
- Making ice
- Food preparation
Water should be boiled for at least one minute past a rolling boil.
Current Status
Power has been restored in impacted areas. DWM crews continue to monitor system operations and are conducting water quality testing.
